June 16, 2015, a day that will forever be remembered, when the fate of the country and the Republican Party would change. The image of Donald Trump making his down the escalator is the stuff of legend burned in the American psyche, shot into the political stratosphere like an exploding supernova. A day when death first brushed against the Republican Party, when the bells first chimed their funeral tone, the music began to play faintly in the distance. In a series of events that can be interpreted as frankly unbelievable, Trump cleared the field of more than 20 Republican candidates and beat Hillary Clinton after a tumultuous election season. The supposed new “winning coalition” was nothing but a façade as loss after loss piled up in 2018, 2020, 2022, and if the latest polls are to be believed, a resounding defeat in 2024. What is clear is that the delusion that set in after the first miraculous win in 2016 (which has proven to be a fluke) is a false assumption based on the assertions of the petulant child that will continue to produce losses for the party.
The recent past events have only proven that the condition that Trump has put the party in has only worsened. The emperor has no clothes and is determined to drag his procession to the grave with him. From CPAC, he declared himself the purveyor of truth, vengeance, and justice for all he deemed wronged by the establishment. To his pitiful, childish, moronic attacks against Governor Ron DeSantis because he’d rather sink the ship than have a new captain. The ship battered by his mismanagement, and the shape of the party contorted to an unrecognizable state. A pitiful entity that has lost the right to call itself a party and much less the Republican Party. The party that has yielded a Parthenon of Greats from Ronald Reagan, Abraham Lincoln, and Ike Eisenhower has fallen tremendously from its former grace. This walking abomination is not what our country deserves; our country needs a Republican Party; the time is running short, the grave has been dug, but the epitaph has not yet been finished. If any morality is left within the party, if any dignity of the Grand Old Party remains, then the cancer of Donald Trump must be removed from the party and America.
